PUBLIC HOUSES
Soham
used to have around 38 Public Houses trading at the same time out of a total
of around 50

Bushel has its last Strike of Ale
Yet another Public
House has been closed down in Soham and left the town with only five left. The
Bushel & Strike was the only remaining pub open on Hall Street from a total of
five that have been located there over the years. Soham once had a total of 35
pubs trading at the same time out of a total of well over 50. The increase of
sales of alcohol from supermarkets and the drop at local pubs in recent years
has seen many pubs forced to close all over the country because they simply
can't compete. Talk of the pub reopening or being transformed in to a
restaurant or wine bar have now been dismissed by the owner of the premises
Graham Harvey who has confirmed that it will now become a residential property
containing four flats.
