THE BUSHEL & STRIKE30 Hall Street, Soham, Cambridgeshire, CB7 5BW The 'The Bushel & Strike', was one of five public houses on this stretch the road. The other four being 'The Black Horse', 'The Globe', 'The Yew Tree' and 'The Kings Head'. The Bushel & Strike was closed in May 2003 and was the only remaining pub open on Hall Street from a total of five that have been located there over the years. The increase of sales of alcohol from supermarkets and the drop in sales at local pubs in recent years has seen many of then forced to close all over the country because they simply can't compete. Rumours of the pub re-opening or being transformed in to a restaurant or wine bar have now been dismissed by the present owner of the premises, Graham Harvey, who has confirmed that it will now become a residential property containing four flats. |
