Not only will you be kept on the edge of your seat trying to guess the identity of the killer in this exciting whodunit taking place 19th-21st October, but you will also be expected to join in with the action too. You'll actually play the part of the studio audience watching a recording of the game show 'If The Cap Fits' when things take a turn for the macabre. You'll even get to decide which contestant gets the 'Cap' – but not the chop! The thriller – which will be performed in Soham before moving to Exning for the final night - has been written especially for the group by acclaimed actor and playwright, Michael Burrell, who has written for the Royal Shakespeare Company and has won many plaudits for his work. This is his second collaboration with Viva, the first being "The Fen Treasure Surprise" which he wrote and directed for the junior arm of the company, the Viva Youth Theatre, back in 2003. He also wrote 'The Narrow Escape', a play marking the 50 year anniversary of the infamous 1944 Soham rail explosion, commissioned by Arts Development East Cambridgeshire. Prime Time Murder, which features many Viva veterans as well as some new faces, is set in the studios of the fictional TopRoute Television and has all the ingredients for a perfect whodunit. There's couple of celebrities, one of them clinging to her rapidly fading career, the other who thinks his selfish behaviour is justified just because he's famous; a frustrated mother, irritated by the limitations imposed on her life; the glamorous host whose problems go beyond his fondness for alcohol. And of course there's the crew, each with their own axe to grind. Performances are at The Brook, Brook Street, Soham, on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th October 2011 and at Exning Community Church Hall on Friday 21st October 2011. All shows start at 7.30pm and tickets are on sale now and are priced at £8.00 (£7.00 concessions). For the Soham shows call the Viva Box Office on Tel: 01353 722228, E-Mail: vivayouth@hotmail.co.uk or call in at the Viva Centre, 7 Churchgate Street, Soham. Tickets for the Exning show should be bought from Exning Post Office or call 01638 577292. Opening of New Recycling Centre for East Cambridgeshire A brand new state of the art recycling centre at Witchford near Ely will open its doors for the first time at 9.00am on Thursday 3rd November 2011. The new Cambridgeshire County Council facility will replace the old, small, open air site at Grunty Fen which will close at midday on Wednesday 2nd November 2011. The new centre will open from 9.00am - 6.00pm, seven days a week with a late night opening until 7.00pm on Wednesdays to make it even easier for you to recycle. It will be under cover so you can use it in all weathers, and split-level which means you won't have to climb steps to deposit your waste. The centre, which will be run by AmeyCespa on behalf of the County Council, will offer lots of opportunities to recycle everyday household items from paper, glass and plastic bottles, to less commonplace items like cooking oil, paint and electrical goods. The new facility is part of Cambridgeshire County Council's drive to offer the best services for local communities and to increase recycling and reduce landfill. Councillor Mathew Shuter, lead member for Enterprise and Waste at Cambridgeshire County Council, said: "This brand new facility is the first of its kind in the county and we believe it will change recycling for residents in East Cambridgeshire. Not only will it make recycling more comfortable and convenient, but it will also help residents recycle things like large rigid plastics, cooking oil and plasterboard. I want to encourage residents to visit the new centre with their recycling and help us reduce waste going to landfill." Chairman of the local liaison group, Councillor Bill Hunt, said: "I am really pleased to announce the opening of this new recycling centre. The last three years have been a great example of the County Council doing things "with" the local community not "to" them. It speaks volumes for the hard work and commitment of the local community of Witchford, local businesses, local members and officers from the County Council that this fantastic new building is about to open its doors. I'm sure it will make a real difference for the residents of East Cambridgeshire." CCTV Texting Alert System CCTV has been involved in partnership working for some time, but one of the most important partners we need to work with are members of the public. It is generally agreed that the most effective way of tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and terrorism is through a vigilant public who report suspicious activity. Members of the public, who see something wrong within an area covered by CCTV, will be able to contact the CCTV Control Room in Cambridge directly by texting 62288. All messages will be acknowledged and CCTV Control Room Operators will prioritise the messages received and then carry out follow up action. A couple of points to remember: always call the
Police first to report a crime on 999 when life is in danger, a serious
offence is in progress, a suspect is at the scene, there is danger of violence
or damage to persons or property or there is a serious road accident. The text to CCTV should include the location
(Street/Town) and what is going on e.g. 'High Street, Soham, Fight'.
